BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS, WHO ABDUCTED OVER 200 SCHOOL GIRLS IN CHIBOK, BORNO STATE, ON APRIL 14, RELEASED 4 OF THEM ON TUESDAY.

According to the Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area Bana Lawan, who disclosed this information the next day, the girls were released after they had fallen ill. Thus, the number of female students already accounted for corresponds 57, NAN provides.

Earlier today we reported that 5 Chibok girls had escaped from their captors last week. The news was officially confirmed, but no details regarding their identity and location was given for security reasons.

It would be recalled that shortly after the tragedy some of the girls managed to run away from their abductors and were reunited with their families. Later they narrated their ordeal to the newsmen.

Weeks after the kidnap Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau released a video showing the children and gave an option to swap the girls for Boko Haram prisoners, which was first strongly opposed by the Nigerian authorities.

However it was later revealed that negotiations had allegedly started, but the swap deal was said to have been withdraw by the government soon before it was to take place.
