Big match feature: Iran v Nigeria

Nigeria will go into their first group game
against Iran looking to bury the ghosts of
World Cup past by winning their first game
at the football showpiece event for the first
time since France1998 .
Coach Stephen Keshi, in particular will look to make history
as the first Nigerian to captain and coach a Nigerian team
to the World Cup finals by nicking a first win in six attempts
as the Super Eagles look to lay a marker in Group F of the
2014 Fifa World Cup.
Iran will be lead by Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, who is
a proven tactician and has molded a strong defensive unit
with Team Melli.
The Iranian team have been set up to be difficult to beat
and usually use the counter-attacking style of play to
devastating effect.
The 61-year-old Portuguese coach, who has had stints in
England, Spain, the United States, Japan and South Africa,
will be leading Iran into their first World Cup since 2006
and will look to build on their recent progress with a strong
showing against Nigeria and other Group F teams.
Previous meetings:
Nigeria and Iran have clashed only once at full international,
with the Africans coming out tops at the 1998 Carlsberg
International Invitational tournament held in Hong Kong
Ahmed Garba's 50th minute effort was the only goal as
Nigeria defeated Iran at the Hong Kong Stadium ,on their
way to clinching the invitational tournament ahead of Chile
and a selected Hong Kong XI.
Match day squads
Nigeria:
William Okpara, Jero Shakpoke, Ganiyu Ajide, Pascal Karibe
Ojigwe, Kingsley Obiekwu, Uche Okafor, Henry Onwuzuruike,
Gabriel Okolosi, Otiji Amaechi, Emmanuel Ebiede, Garba
Ahmed
Iran:
Ahmadreza Abedsadeh, Mehdi Pashazadeh, Naim Saadavi,
Reza Rezaei-Manesh, Mehrdad Minavand, Afshin
Peyrovani, Farshad Falahatzadeh, Mehdi Mahdavikia,
Hamidreza Estilli, Alireza Mansourian, Ali Asghar Modir
Roustar
Form going into the game:
Nigeria:- D D D L
Iran:- D D D W
Team news:
Nigeria:
Defender Elderson Echiejile, who has been ruled out of the
tournament, has been replaced by Ejike Uzoenyi, while
Kenneth Omeruo, who sat out the loss to United States has
made progress and is expected to start against the
Iranians.
Iran:
Queiroz has the full complement of his squad to chose from
as there are no major injury worries. Veteran skipper Javad
Nekounam will lead from the midfield ably supported by
Dutch-born forward Reza Ghoochannejhad.
What they said:
Mikel (Nigeria)
"We know we're the African champions and people expect
us to do well, to represent the African continent. That's a
bit more extra pressure but it's pressure that we love. We
love to be African champions."
Carlos Queiroz ( Iran)
"This is our 'Mission Impossible' once, twice and three
times, but this is what makes the tournament attractive."
Players to watch:
Nigeria:
Victor Moses:
The Chelsea winger has arguably been Nigeria's stand out
performer in the build up to the World Cup as the Super
Eagles struggled in their preparatory games.
Blessed with pace, the former Crystal Palace player can be
a handful for opposing defenders to deal with. He will be
Nigeria's main attacking threat against Iran as the Super
Eagles look to end their no-win hoodoo.
Vincent Enyeama.
First choice for both club and country, Enyeama goes into
the tournament as the best African player in the French top
division, which will do a lot for his confidence.
A tremendous shot-stopper, he has clearly improved his
ability to deal with crosses which were his Achilles heels.
Brazil 2014 will be his third World Cup appearance and is
among the most experienced member of Coach Stephen
Keshi's squad.
Iran:
Steven Beitashour:
The American-born defender is a late comer into Queiroz
squad, and will be playing his first international tournament
for Team Melli after making his debut last October.
A full back that loves to bomb forward, Beitashour was
drafted at the number 30 pick in the Major League Soccer
draft in 2010 by the San Jose Earthquakes and will hope to
continue his steady rise with a decent showing in his first
World game against Nigeria.
Ashkan Dejagah:
The poster boy of Iranian footballer who had a good season
with Barclays Premier League side, Fulham despite the
London team being relegated.
Dejagah is a combative midfielder who also plays in
advanced midfield positions where he sets himself to be
among the goals for club and country. Queiroz will surely rely
on him to provide the front line with needed support to
trouble Nigeria.
Odd tale:
A survey conducted before the start of the 2014 Fifa World
Cup by Yougov, an online survey firm showed that Iran
alongside Argentina and the United States are the most
hated teams at the tournament.

Blessed Are The Peace Maker: 7 Ways To Avoid Conflict As Much As Possible

NEGATIVITY AND DRAMA ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY. THEY CAN CAUSE STRESS, WHICH IS HARMFUL TO YOU IN MANY WAYS. AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, CUT THESE PEOPLE OUT OF YOUR LIFE. IF THEY ARE SOMEONE YOU CANT DO THAT WITH, LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE ON A JOURNEY TO GET RID OF NEGATIVITY AND DRAMA.

It is always good to know ways to avoid conflict. Conflict is something we sometimes have to have, but there are other times when it is better to avoid it. That is a personal call we each have to make. However, if you are in a situation when you need to do so, these are some ways to avoid conflict that can help you out.

 1. BE KIND

Conflict can come in many different areas of our life and there are ways to avoid conflict in each of them. Conflict can be in our jobs, our family relationships or other relationships. Whichever way conflict is coming at you, being kind can help. Kindness can disarm conflict. It can also have many other wonderful results.

 2. DONT GET IN THE MIDDLE OF SITUATIONS

Sometimes we get in the middle of other people's situations because we want to help. While the motivation is pure, it isnt the best action. It can draw you right into the middle of a conflict. Then, if you express any opinion on either side, you may have a new conflict to deal with. It is best to just let other people work out their own situations without you.

 3. BE A PEACEKEEPER

Another way to avoid conflict is to be a peacekeeper. Be a person that likes peace and strives to have it. Dont be anxious to jump into a conflict. Even if you arent a natural born peacekeeper, you can learn the skill. Ask someone to whom it does come naturally for tips.

 4. WALK IT OFF

In other words, when stress is getting to you and the temptation to give in to conflict is there, choose to deal with the stress in another way. It can help to take a walk to get some perspective. Get away from the situation for a bit to cool off. Putting some distance between yourself and the person you may have conflict with is helpful. It can defuse the situation.

 5. DONT ENGAGE

Sometimes people try to force you into conflict. If this is the case with you, choose not to engage. This means that you dont give in to their ploys to draw you into conflict. This has a hidden benefit, too. It will more than likely cause them aggravation because they could not get to you, so you win without having any conflict.

 6. AVOID TRIGGER PEOPLE

We all have trigger people. Trigger people are those that make us want to have a conflict with them. They do not bring out the best in you. They make you want to go head to head over something. It is best to just avoid the trigger people in your life.

 7. CUT NEGATIVITY AND DRAMA OUT OF YOUR LIFE

Negativity and drama are not good for you mentally or physically. They can cause stress, which is harmful to you in many ways. As much as you can, cut these people out of your life. If they are someone you cant do that with, let them know you are on a journey to get rid of negativity and drama. This should let them know to take those things somewhere else.

Northern Monarch Under Probe Over Boko Haram Links

here were strong indications, yesterday, that the

Security services have commenced a high-level investigation of a monarch in northern Nigeria, suspected to have links with the members of Islamist sect Boko Haram, indications have emerged.

The investigation followed the intelligence gathered from Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, regarding difficulties being faced by Nigeria in extraditing Aminu-Sadiq Ogwuche, the alleged mastermind of the April 14, 2014, bombing of Nyanya motor-park, near Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, where over 100 lives were lost.

Situation was so embarrassing that the jet, provided by the Nigerian government to convey the suspect from the Sudanese capital, Khatoum, returned after waiting for three days without making a headway in the extradition process, a source told vanguard.

According to information gathered from the traditional ruler's base, Sudan and Abuja, suggested that the focus of the investigation of the monarch had to do with funding and remittances allegedly made with a view to blocking the extradition of Ogwuche.

The sudden uncooperative disposition of the Sudanese government in the matter, Vanguard gathered is not unconnected with the influence which the traditional ruler is known to wield in Sudan, as well as his contacts over the years in that Islamic country.

All efforts by Vanguard to get official confirmation from the National Information Centre, saddled with the co-ordination and dissemination of information regarding the war on terror, proved abortive. Sources in the intelligence community however insisted that a good lead was being followed in the matter concerning the monarch.

It is something that is very discreet that we are doing but I will neither confirm nor deny to you that we are carrying out investigation to substantiate the claims of complicity by the monarch, a highly placed source said.

It was discovered that the main reason for the forceful blocking of the extradition of Ogwuche is to stall any possibility of his return to Nigeria and buckle under intense interrogation and possibly reveal the names of the sponsors of the insurgents, the source said.

President Goodluck Jonathan is ready to go to any length, working with the security agencies, to get to the root of the matter and ensure that Nigerians are spared the terror unleashed by insurgents. Nobody, no matter how highly placed in the society, would be spared and the country is ready to ensure that Ogwuche is brought back to this country to face the consequences of his alleged action, said the security source.

Saturday Vanguard had, yesterday, reported that Sudans refusal to extradite Ogwuche followed the alleged intervention of the monarch. He was said to have moved in to stop the extradition of the suspect using the instrumentality of his alma mater, African International University, in Sudan.

Apart from this, Sudan whose President, Omar al-Bashir, is wanted by the International Criminal Court, ICC, for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur, has no bilateral agreement with any country in the world on extradition of criminals.

The monarch, who was said to have used alma mater on several occasions to recommend and secure admission for some Nigerian youths in Sudan, allegedly used his influence to reach out to some old students of the university to frustrate the extradition of Ogwuche possibly to prevent Nigerian security from getting details from the suspect on some of the financiers of Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria.

Ogwuche was declared wanted by the Department of State Services, DSS, after linking him to the deadly blast in Nyanya which claimed over 75 lives.

However, the arraignment in absentia was again allegedly questioned by the Sudanese government which also doubted the genuineness of the allegations against the suspected terrorist, saying that he (Ogwuche) could have been framed. [Vanguard

Ivory Coast Coach Sabri Lamouchi Hails Game Dider Drogba

Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi hailed the impact of Didier Drogba after his team's come-from-behind 2-1 win over Japan.

Drogba injured his thigh in training on Thursday and started on the bench in Ivory Coast's FIFA World Cup opener on Saturday, with Lamouchi selecting Wilfried Bony up front in Recife.

Without Drogba, who had scored seven goals in his past nine appearances for his country, Lamouchi's side appeared to lack ideas in attack as they chased Japan, who took the lead in the 16th minute at the Itaipava Arena Pernambuco through Keisuke Honda.

Lamouchi brought Drogba on in the 62nd minute and although the 36-year-old did not create or score either of Ivory Coast's goals, the French coach claimed the bustling striker made a big difference.

"We didn't start the game very well by conceding through a lapse in concentration," Lamouchi said.

"After that, we got into a lot of good positions. For us it was really important to start well this tournament. To have a player like Didier Drogba in your squad, as a starter or a sub, changes a game."

Within a minute of coming off the bench, Drogba almost set up a goal with a clever back-heel in the area, which Gervinho could not capitalise on.

Soon after, Bony equalised with a header from Serge Aurier and when the right-back crossed for Gervinho two minutes later, Ivory Coast were in front.

Drogba could have stretched his team's lead even further late in the match as his powerful free-kick was parried away by Eiji Kawashima and a shot from the edge of the box was deflected just the wrong side of the post.

But despite that, Ivory Coast held on to win their opening game at a World Cup for the first time.

At the previous two World Cups finals, the Ivory Coast failed to get out of their group after missing out on victory in their first match, although Lamouchi underlined that winning the opening game was not a guarantee of reaching the round of 16.

"The players are very happy with the victory but we are not yet qualified," he said.

Ivory Coast face Group C leaders Colombia on Thursday in Brasilia.

SisQó Debuts New Music at Summerstage Concert in Brookly NY

Brooklyn locals and NYC music lovers gathered to Betsy Head Park in Brownsville Wednesday night to watch R&B artist SisQó perform his greatest hits. The former Dru Hill member who recently performed in Australia,  had fans signing his lyrics verbatim as he delivered an energetic live show in the Brownsville neighborhood. Sisqo opened the concert with a fast-paced new record called “A List”.  The “Thong Song” singer revealed that he is currently working on an album titled The Last Dragon. Sisqo’s final studio album is scheduled to release this summer.
Memorable moments of the show include SisQó performing “Unleash the Dragon”. The platinum blonde crooner sang while moving in unison with his back-up dancers, proving that he didn’t lose his touch. SisQó was at the top of his game in the early 2000’s, having two of his singles reach top three of the Billboard Hot 100.
Towards the middle of the show, SisQó scanned the crowd and said “I’m gonna slow it down for all the people that know me from my R&B days”. Suddenly the DJ drops “Incomplete”, a smooth sounding record from SisQó’s first album. After SisQó performed some of his solo hits, he channeled his career beginnings by performing Dru Hill records. SisQó was once the lead vocalist of that particular 90’s R&B group.
Songs such as “Tell Me” and “Sleeping in My Bed” had concert- goers two-stepping and snapping in the park. The concert came to a close around sunset. SisQó’s final performance of the night was the “Thong Song”, which happens to be his most famous record. Summerstage’s next Brooklyn show will be the Salute to Hip Hop, taking place June 18th at Herbert Von King Park.

Rioting occurred on Sunday around the palace of the Emir of Kano as the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was announced the new Emir of Kano.

Weird: Bauchi Prostitute Cry Out Over Low Patronage

COMMERCIAL S3X WORKERS IN BAUCHI STATE, NORTHERN NIGERIA HAVE CRIED OUT OVER LOW PATRONAGE FROM THEIR CLIENTS.

Vanguard reports that prostitutes in the northern state blamed the decline in patronage on insecurity in neighbouring states of Plateau, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.

It was also gathered that most of the owners of hot spots and brothels around some major streets within the metropolis have also complained about low patronage from clients who usually engage the services of the s*x workers.

Some of the most affected spots are Ogbonna Hotel, Focus Brothel, Time out by junction, Peoples Club and Benco Hotels.

Commenting on the situation, two s*x workers at Bayan Gari, a suburb in Bauchi metropolis, said the recent bomb explosions in Jos caused most of their rich clients not to be coming to the state again.

It could be recalled that some Nigerian s*x workers had demanded for legal recognition of their trade as a job during the celebration of 14th International s*x Workers Rights Day in March.

Some of the prostitutes told journalists that the time had come for the Nigerian government to grant them their due recognition and further recognise that as human beings trying to keep body and soul going, the profession should be considered legitimate enough to put a stop to its discrimination and stigmatisation.

Though many of prostitutes did not realise that such day was set aside for them until they were told, they also called on rights activists to assist them gain the desired recognition.

See, many people, including you, do not see us as human beings. In your mind, we are a condemned set of Nigerians who sell their bodies so cheaply, but that thought is not right, Jane, a lady from eastern Nigeria who operates at a brothel close to the railwayline in Agege, told newsmen.

Popular Businessman Sends Assassins To Kill Partner For Snatching His Wife

The police in Lagos have arrested 3 men in the Ikeja area of the state after they were alleged to be assassins.

The suspects were reportedly on a mission to assassinate a popular businessman,Victor Adelakun aka Ade Lexus and had been sent by his business partner, Adebayo Orekoya aka Bobby Ibadan.

The gang was apprehended at a night club on Allen Avenue where they were allegedly lying in wait for Adelakun who had, according to them, become a target for snatching Orekoya's wife.

 Punch reports:

It had also been reported that the gang was given an advance payment of N140,000 to do the job. The sum of N100,000 as well as the victims photograph had been recovered from the gang during their arrest.

At the parade on Tuesday, the gang leader, 27-year-old Ibrahim, claimed that they were only asked to kidnap Ade Lexus, and were promised N300,000.

He said, We went to the night club simply to enjoy ourselves. We were given N140,000 as part payment to kidnap the man. Orekoya told us that Ade Lexus snatched his wife, and that he was also after his life. He then sent us to kidnap him (Ade Lexus), and promised to pay us N300,000 after doing the job.

I have a wife and three children. I have not killed anyone before in my life. I used to work as a welder before I met Orekoya.

Another member of the gang, 25-year-old Olanrewaju, also claimed that they had come to Lagos to kidnap their victim.

However, our correspondent learnt that Ibrahim, who hails from Ikorodu in Lagos, mobilised other gang members from Abeokuta, Ogun State to carry out the assassination.

The police insisted that they had laid in ambush for their victim at the night club, and were waiting for him to come out before he would be killed. It was further gathered that Ibrahim had earlier gone for many assassination jobs.

According to police report, the gang, who are of different addresses in Ibadan, Oyo State, were arrested after a tip-off, but their driver, simply identified as Samuel, escaped.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said investigation was still ongoing, and Orekoya would soon be arrested.

The gang was sent to assassinate. They came to Allen Avenue to meet their victim, and we got the information and arrested them. They have confessed that they were given N100,000 as a mobilisation fee by one Orekoya Adebayo aka Bobby. Their sender has not been arrested, but we will get him, Manko said.

A popular Islamic scholar and leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria popularly called Shiite Muslim group, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has revealed that the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau is being shielded secretly by agents inside the Nigerian military.

While revealing that he knows the hide out of Shekau, the most wanted man, Sheikh Zakzaky said:

 > "Abubakar Shekau is presently being kept safe in a military camp. Let no one be fooled, there is nothing like Boko Haram. It is a covert operation to balkanize Nigeria and steals its resources in the name of search of Boko Haram insurgents. If you can fool others, we cannot be fooled.

 > "They have realised that there is gold in Zamfara and Zaria, Birnin-Gwari, gold and platinum in Sokoto and Borno...

"They did it in Iraq, as they went

 > ss destruction which they never found but plunged the country in chaos. "The same thing
 nted in Afghanistan before

 > lor: #cc0000;">The Western countries are experimenting the second phase of scramble for Africa with great expectations from Nigeria. "The U.S. and Israel see the Islamic Mov

 > Sheikh Zakzaky made these revelations at the Movement's 2014 Martyr day in Zaria on Sunday.
 >
 > While alleging victim
s members by the Nigerian authorities, he asked for the immediate release of two of its members Haruna Abbas and Ibrahim Hussain, who he said were arrested over a year ago for no just cause and "unjustifiably" detained without trial.

"No law or constitutional provision allows for such a lengthy detention without trial and without visitation by the families and friends, especially in a democratic government Nigeria is claiming to operate," Zakzaky said.

Gov. Shettima, Saraki, Others Escape Death As Plane Makes Emergency Landing

Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima, former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei and other top Nigerian political leaders escaped death by whiskers on a British Airways flight 082 that was struck by thunder while approaching Heathrow International Airport in London on Thursday.

The plane, which left Abuja around 8am on Thursday, was billed to land at Heathrow airport at about 2.30pm, it however hovered for over 40 minutes in the air before heading towards Birmingham airport to have an emergency landing.

The weather in Heathrow was so bad that after hovering for about 40 minutes without being able to land and with the plane running short on fuel, the pilots took the best decision to head to Birmingham because we had already been hit by a lightning which caused a loud bang in the plane and damaged some electricals, one of the passengers aboard the flight told Sun News.

The passenger further disclosed that after the emergency landing in Birmingham, Governor Shettima, Saraki and others were kept in the plane for about two hours during which the aircraft was refuelled and an attempt was made at fixing some engineering issues caused by the thunder.

When it was certain that the plane could not continue the journey back to London, all the passengers were asked to disembark into three luxury buses at about 6pm which took them by road to London.

The journey by road from Birmingham to London which lasted for about four hours due to traffic jam was said to have left many of the passengers with pre-booked train trips to their destinations outside London stranded.

Unfortunately, we were left unattended to at Birmingham because BA has no ground staff at Birmingham before we were eventually transported by road and sadly again, we got to London at about 10pm when many people could not go anywhere and still, we had to bear the brunt of looking for accommodation for ourselves. The shock of the loud bang caused by the thunder and the several hours spent both in the air hovering and on the road left many of us weak and sick but our joy is that we survived what could have been a major disaster on the heels of the Boko Haram inflicted tragedies in Nigeria the passenger revealed.

Seplat Positive They Would Win Dispute Over Chevron Purchase

Seplat has said it is confident it will win the dispute over the purchase of a Chevron asset.

The companys Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Austin Avuru was quoted by Reuters to have said this during the presentation of Seplat's interim management statement. He said the company had appealed against a ruling which gave jurisdiction to a Nigerian court in deciding the outcome of a Chevron oil block sale, for which Seplat's bid was the second-highest.

A judge last week ruled the Federal High Court should have jurisdiction over Chevron's asset sale dispute with Nigeria's Brittania-U, dealing a blow to Chevron which had hoped to have the case dismissed.

Chevron and Brittania-U are at loggerheads after the Nigerian firm said it paid a deposit to buy some onshore oil blocks from the United States group, only for Chevron to look for alternative bids.
The US firm had argued the sale was a private matter and should not be subject to court involvement.

"We remain confident that the Chevron acquisition will be settled in our favour," Avuru said.

Avuru said Seplat had lost out on a separate bid for a Shell block in Nigeria because its bid was not the highest.
Shares in Seplat traded flat on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) yesterday at N625 and 228 pence respectively. Seplat said its interim results would be released in July.

Avuru said Seplat, which raised $500 million via a debut stock market listing on the NSE and in London in April, was considering three acquisitions seriously and expects to conclude them before the end of the year.

It said it had $285 million in net cash after its Initial Public Offer and is on track to achieve a production rate for 2014 of 72,000 barrels per day.

Northern Governors Have A Message For FG

THE NORTHERN GOVERNORS HAVE SAID THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD STOP PLAYING THE BLAME GAME.

 Dr. Babangida Aliyu

Reacting to allegations by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku's that the 19 governors in the North are not doing enough at curbing insecurity in the region, the Northern States Governors' Forum on Thursday, May 22 said the statement was "uncharitable and unfortunate."

According to the Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, no governor can be accused of not doing enough, adding that if the allegations were the minister's view it was rather unfortunate but if is the the view of the Federal Government, it is very uncharitable, it is more than unfortunate.

"I think it is part of the hypocrisy because no governor as far as I know can be accused of not doing enough. As Chairman of Northern State Governors' Forum, I can say that no governor can be accused of not doing enough particularly, with the circumstances that we find ourselves," Aliyu said.

Aliyu added that had no knowledge of any governor being invited by the National Security Adviser (NSA) and told of what to do and he did not do it.

He therefore urged the Federal government to stop accusing the governors as they were the ones to be blamed in the delay of curbing the security challenges in the country.

Mr. Labaran Maku, while briefing State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, May 21 had decried the increasing spate of bombings in the Northern part of the country, saying the senseless attacks by the Boko Haram sect was becoming worse because state governors in the region were not doing enough to end the attacks.

Nigeria Solders Combat-Ready To Free Chibok School Girls

Indications emerged yesterday that the Nigerian troops were set to take up battle with the invidious Boko Haram terrorists, who have pitched their tents in the Northeast, wreaking havoc around the region.

In several tweets from his Twitter Handle @abati1990, Presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, posted four pictures depicting Nigerian soldiers in combat-readiness to confront the Boko Haram insurgents.

Abati said in one of the tweets with a photograph showing soldiers massing with a tank, Nigerias committed and patriotic troops in action to crush al Qaeda/Boko Haram terrorists of Sambisa to bring back our girls.

In another tweet with amphibious soldiers crossing an unnamed river, Abati wrote that the soldiers were set to crush the terrorists and free the girls, who were taken over a month ago.

Although the Presidents spokesman did not say where the soldiers were camped, it was learnt that the soldiers, who had been training with the specialists despatched by Britain and the United States of America in the wake of the abduction, have been gearing up for action to free the captives.

Both nations, which are Nigerias trading partners, have also sent in reconnaissance aircraft to help locate the abductees and reunite them with their parents.

They have also pledged to assist Nigeria in tackling rising terrorism in the country.

EFCC Arraigns Michael Adenuga Over N5 Billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Mr Michael Adenuga, a former accountant with an oil major company, Chevron.

He is alleged to have fraudulently converted landed property measuring about 22.687 hectares, valued at N5 billion and situated at Aiyetoro, Ikota, Lekki Peninsula, beside the Victoria Garden City.

The defendant was arraigned alongside his company, Covenant Apartments Complex Limited, before Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja.

He pleaded not guilty and pending the hearing of his bail application, the court remanded him in Kirikiri Maximum Prison.

In the second charge, Mr Micheal Adenuga was alleged to have forged a Contract of Sale document which showed that his company Covenant Apartments Complex Limited sold the land to Kingview Realty.

He also forged the survey attached to the document. Channels Television gathered that the documents were used to obtain over N600m from GT Homes.

In the 3rd count, the defendant allegedly passed off the forged document to the EFCC as genuine. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges and the counsel to the EFCC, Mr Jamil Musa urged the court to remand him in prison pending the commencement of his trial.

The defence counsel, Mr Ehis Agboga however informed the court that he had just filed a bail application on behalf of his client. He urged the court to remand the defendant in the custody of the EFCC pending the hearing and arguments for bail.

He told the court that his client is diabetic, has a high blood pressure and would need to see his doctors regularly. He pleaded that remanding him in prison would further worsen his condition.

At this point, Justice Ogunsanya adjourned till the 21st of May for the defendant to settle the issue of his legal representation. On that day, the court would also possibly hear the application for his bail.

In the meantime the court ordered that he be remanded at the Kirikiri maximum prison and adjourned the case till 4th & 5th of June.

A Must Read: Full Speech In New Video Just Released By Boko Haram Leader

Here is the Full Speech In New Video Just Released By Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Also, in this new video, he spoke on the fate of the girls, who have been converted to Islam. He said: “I am going to marry all these girls off; you cannot see them again. We will sell them in the market; there is a market where I will sell them. “If you bring three trillion troops, we will not release the girls. We stand to deal with infidels.

“If they catch me, it does not stop me from what I am doing. They said anybody that catches me will be given $50million. So I am important; Obama and Jonathan are unimportant. “You are looking for who? It is not a new thing that they are catching children and selling them. It is the owner that puts them in the market.Another Video Released: We’ll Attack Abuja, Refineries – Boko Haram Leader

“We are stronger than America anywhere they are. If you want to defend do so because I am ready. “Where do you say you will come and look for me? Do you know where I am since all these days? “You are just searching in vain by looking at every nook and cranny. “I don’t have a land; anywhere I find myself is my land because all land belongs to God.”

Shekau likened the sect’s campaign to the one in Afghanistan signposting a link with Al-Qaeda.
He said: “The war we are fighting is like the ones in Afghanistan and Iraq, it is the war against Christians and infidels. “Those fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, Yemen, Mali are my brothers. We will do Jihad. This is my message.”

Shekau took on many countries and world leaders. The list includes the US, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, Israel and Italy He said: “Some of you (like Germany, Russia, China, Italy) think because we do not mention your names, you think we don’t know you people are involved.

“If I catch Jonathan, Obama and others I am going to sell them. Don’t think I am joking. God, you are my witness.
“If you (Obama, Jonathan, others) seek God’s forgiveness, He forgives. He is a merciful God. If you don’t seek forgiveness, I am going to cut you into pieces.”

He went on: “You Jonathan, you are watching me. If you like, go and bring everybody all over the world, you cannot do anything. Bring up human rights issue, you don’t know anything. Do Nigerians know their rights?

“I am the President; there is no President in Nigeria; there is no President in the world. I am the President in Islam and in the world.”

Shekau vowed that the spate of killings by the sect would continue in any part of the country.
He added: “We will kill until we get tired. We will kill all infidels until we get tired. We will kill unbelievers like chicken. We will tie them. We have decided what we will do.

“Any amount let them spend; we will bring this country down. We are stronger than America anywhere they are.

“We will open a killing pool for all those who have insulted us like George Bush, Obama and even Jonathan.

“I pledge to Allah my God to be faithful, loyal and honest. And you to your country. We will know who God will answer between you and I.

“There is no government existing in Nigeria. Do you think you have government?”
On the sect’s recurring attacks on FCT, the Boko Haram leader said the sect would also not ceasefire.

He added: “We are in Abuja, we will cause havoc. We will do Jihad. We are all Abuja residents. Very soon, we will come to Abuja.

“We are going to the refineries. We are going to the unbelievers. We won’t go to your (Jonathan’s) state; we will go to where there are refineries.”

Shekau listed the sect’s grouses against some world powers, including opposition to western education, democracy and homosexuality.

He said: “The war we are fighting is against democracy, constitution, Christianity and Western Education.

“I don’t have any relationship with Saudi Arabia, they are nothing. They are also unbelievers. I don’t follow white men. I am not going to follow anybody except God. I won’t have any relationship with anybody than God.

“You say you want to use democracy to cheat us or to deceive us. You are talking of government of the people by the people for the people. I am talking of the government of Allah by the Allah for the Allah.

“What is the essence of allowing a female to marry a female? I don’t understand what they are saying. They said it is about freedom which I do not understand.”

Tunde Bakare Says Boko Haram Is An American Idea, Calls Out CNN's Issa Sesay, Patience Jonathan, Other

During his sermon this past Sunday May 11th, pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly, went hard on the American government and their offer to assist Nigeria to fight Boko Haram.

Watched the video and here's a summary of what he said. According to Bakare, CNN media crew coming to Abuja a few weeks ago to cover the Chibok girls story took him back to a vision God showed him during a conference he had in 2005 at Adebola House in Lagos. He said in the vision, he rode on God's back into former US President Bush's war room and saw the former president plotting on how to destabilize Nigeria. He said he immediately started praying at the conference declaring that Nigeria is not Iraq and that Bush would be burnt in the bush while Condolezza Rice would end up in the cooking pot. He played the video of his preaching in 2005 where he shared the vision to the conference attendees.

About Isha Sesay of CNN, pastor Bakare said she's been very disrespectful to Nigerian Government officials who she has been interviewing since she came into the country, making a whole Minister of Information Labaran Maku look like a school boy and showing no regard for his office or even the government he represents. He said to some extent we would say yes she should give it to him because all of a sudden it appears we have no government. Continue...

He called out the First Lady for her recent media frenzy saying her actions made her expose her lack of education using the word sharing instead of shedding. He says one of the judgment upon a nation is that low quality people would rule over you. He said that is how low we have fallen.

He said we should chase away the foxes before we focus on the chickens. He titled his message War on Terror, War on Terrorist and War on their sponsor. He took a swipe at Pres. Jonathan for saying to the media that they knew more than him. He expressed his sadness at the President's remark during his media chat that we should not compare stealing with corruption. He said however Pres. Jonathan is still doing his best. He said Ekiti state coming 34th in the just concluded West African Examination Council (WAEC) is an indication that we have fallen, saying that the pride of Ekiti before now was an avalanche of Top academicians.

He said members of the National delegates clamoring for new states are missing the point and that creation of new states is not our problem.

On Boko Haram and the bombings that have been associated with them, he said he doubts that the men are able to assemble a bomb together. He said boko haram men are not the ones behind the sporadic bombings in Kano, that they don' have the sophistication. He said there is a foreign orchestration of evil against Nigeria. He said the whole Chibok girls kidnapping is all conspiracy. He wondered how two hundred girls could be kidnapped, the school burnt down and no one could stop it. He wondered why the Sambisa forest cannot be invaded by the military right in our country.

According to him, this is the same Nigeria who sent military forces to Liberia. He wondered if this is not the same Nigeria when Chad citizens invaded Nigeria and killed 5 soldiers during Shagari days and Buhari rolled tanks and pursued the Chad people even into their territory and whole world pleaded that we stop.

He said Americans are angry because Nigerian government had the guts to invade Liberia which is an American territory and they say they would teach us a lesson that we would never forget and said that is the terror that we are experiencing now. He wondered with the videos Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is releasing, he cannot be traced with the mast or live feeds of the videos. He said the West just wants to ridicule Nigeria before the world and in the end force us to do their bidding. He expressed anger in our government asking for international help saying where was the international community when we fought our civil war.

He prayed for all those sponsoring terror in Nigeria- that their economies would fall, that God would also start trouble in their lands, they would reap multiple terror and that their youngmen and women would rise up against them. He prayed that any Nigerian ruler - Obi, Oba, Emir or politician working in support of terror in Nigeria, that the wrath of God would fall upon them and their children wherever they are and that their families shall be terrorized.

He said we the citizens should not panic and that God has preserved us including the Chibok girls that were kidnapped.

Chris Brown Sentenced To 1 Year In Jail

This is not fair! Chris admitted on Friday to violating his probation by committing a crime near Washington, D.C. Brown is accused of hitting someone outside a hotel and prosecutors have filed an assault charge against him. He was promptly sentenced to a year in county jail by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin.

Brown has already spent a couple of months in jail and more than three months in a rehab program and will be given 234 days of credit for time served.

Judge Brandlin said the one-year sentence was the maximum he could give Brown short of state prison. He also said he would reinstate Brown's probation when he is released, extending it until January 2015.

In addition to the jail time, Brown will be required to see a psychiatrist twice a week, complete his outstanding community service, take appropriate medication and not use medical marijuana.

The judge noted that since the singer's first encounters with the law regarding his ex-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, Judge Brandlin has learned Brown has an underlying mental health condition and it was a mitigating factor in his sentencing. Previous court records have stated Brown is bipolar.

Sorry Nigerians, President Jonathan Can't Help Your Situation

NIGERIA ON AUTO PILOT, LET'S RALLY TO SAVE HER!
Being text of a World Press Conference addressed by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, in Lagos on May 11th 2014 on Boko Haram and Nigeria's security situation

Good morning gentlemen! Today is Sunday May 11th 2014.....exactly 26 days after over 200 of our daughters in Chibok, Borno State, were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents. Twenty six days later, we neither know where they are nor are we any close to knowing it, going by available information. Yet, 11 more girls have been abducted in Warabe.

Since 2009, when Boko Haram launched its terror campaign, thousands of our citizens have either been killed or maimed, while the economic and social activities in a whole section of the country have been paralyzed. Since January 2014, Boko Haram has killed over 1,500 people, mostly civilians, and that figure does not include the 95 people who died in the two bombings in as many weeks at Nyanya in Abuja, nor does it include the over 150 who were killed in Gamboru, Borno State, last week.

Nigeria is at war! And Nigerians are asking: How did we get to this sorry pass

Could we have averted the situation in which we have now found ourselves, a situation in which Africa's most populous nation, and one said to have the largest economy on the continent, is now lying prostate, begging the world for help How did a country that has been at the vanguard of maintaining peace in other countries since 1960 now become something of a panhandler How can we restore peace to our country and provide safety and security for our people

It is in the search for answers to these questions that we have called this world press conference, not to apportion blame, but to take a critical and non-partisan look at the situation we are in and also to offer suggestions on the way out of what has now become a quagmire.

But since it is said that when you know the past, you can understand the present and then predict the future, let us start by looking at how we got to this sorry pass

''WE ARE ON TOP OF THE SITUATION''
Gentlemen, you will recall that 2011 marked a dangerous turning point in the history of Boko Haram's terror attacks, when the insurgents bombed the UN Complex and the Police Headquarters, both in Abuja, with deadly consequences. That same year, the INEC office in Suleja was bombed; churches were bombed in Jos, Plateau; Suleja, Niger State and in Yobe State, among others.

All through these attacks and thereafter, all the federal government did was to issue tepid statements commiserating with the victims and their families, vowing to hunt down the culprits and bring them to justice, and then telling a bewildered nation: 'We are on top of the situation'.

Of course they are not on top of anything. It was an empty rhetoric! Because, the following year, 2012, the insurgents, emboldened by the fact that they have gotten away with past terror attacks, launched even more vicious attacks, killing over 160 in one day in Kano alone and 40 in Kaduna on another day, launching another church attack in Jos and attacking the police headquarters in Maiduguri, among a horde of other attacks. The reaction from the government 'We are on top of the situation! Boko Haram will soon become history'

2013 was not any better, with the attack in Bama claiming 55 lives, and that in Yobe 42 lives, among many others.

Realizing that its retort, 'we are on top of the situation', was not working, the government shifted gear and started blaming the opposition, specifically our party, the APC, for the attack. Statements made by our key leaders, including Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, were distorted and taken out of context to justify their claim that the APC is the sponsor of the attacks. They say a party that has 35 interim officials, 18 of them Muslims and 17 of them Christians, is an Islamic party that is in cahoots with Boko Haram. No amount of disclaimer by the APC impressed the accusers.

Then 2014 came and the terrorists simply went mad! Waves of attacks on Bama, Buni Yadi, Maiduguri, Kala Balge, Dilkwa and Abuja claimed hundreds of lives, to such an extent that by March ending, the death toll has hit 1,500! Then the worst atrocity of all: Our daughters were abducted from the school and taken to an unknown destination.

All through this, the government kept waffling, mouthing meaningless 'we are on top of the situation' cliche and engaging in blame game. With his eyes set firmly on 2015, the President....as well as his party....ratcheted up the finger pointing and blame game.

Amidst all this, valuable time was lost to deal with the insurgency. And now we have reached a sorry pass. The government has lost the initiative to the terrorists.

 THE ROLE OF THE MILITARY
We hail our gallant men and women in uniform, who have risked their lives to battle this insurgency and keep our country safe. We do not share in the pessimism being expressed in certain quarters about the ability and capability of our military to tackle the insurgency. We believe that, given the necessary support and provided with the required wherewithal, our military can surmount this insurgency.

Our optimism stems from empirical facts. As we said in our press statement last week, the Nigerian military has excelled in peacekeeping and peace enforcement missions around the world since our independence in 1960, to such an extent that Nigeria has become one of the top troop contributing nations around the world.

However, stories emerging from the front in the battle with Boko Haram have been saddening: Low morale among our troops, obsolete equipment, including guns that fail to fire and armoured personnel carriers that won't move, given to our troops, and cases of deserters.

When Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno called the attention of the nation to the fact that the insurgents' morale was higher than that of our troops and that they were better armed than the soldiers we are sending to battle, he was roundly pilloried and shouted down.

To ensure that our military is not being saddled with responsibility without empowerment, we have therefore called on the National Assembly to institute a probe into how the huge allocations for security in the recent years have been spent, whether the men and women we are sending to battle are properly equipped and whether funds meant for the prosecution of this war are being judiciously spent. Today, we renew this patriotic call to the National Assembly, with a strong belief that it will yield a positive outcome and help turn the tide in our battle against these terrorists

 THE ABDUCTIONS
After wasting valuable time on finger pointing and senseless politicking, the Jonathan Administration finally overreached itself following the unfortunate, dastardly and atrocious kidnapping of our girls from their school in Chibok, Bormo State.

First, the Administration was in denial, believing the girls were indeed not kidnapped and that the whole abduction story was choreographed to embarrass the President and dim his chances for re-election in 2015, which is the only thing that matters to the President and his party, the PDP, now

In fact, on the same day the girls were abducted, our President was dancing 'azonto' at an illegal campaign rally in Kano, not minding that a few hours earlier, 75 innocent citizens were bombed into smithereens under his watch in Abuja!

When the reality dawned on the Administration that this was not a fluke, it reacted by doing nothing! It took all of 19 days before President Jonathan made any public statement acknowledging the abductions. That is almost three weeks of lost opportunity to engage in a hot pursuit of the abductors and rescue our girls.

That public outing by the President in itself was forced, by the World Economic Forum on Africa which was just a few days away then and the focus by the global community on the terrorist attacks in Nigeria and the abduction of the girls.

Then a tragicomedy ensued: While the President again pulled into his shell after summoning a few meetings here and there and setting up a 'fact finding' panel....akin to shutting the pen after the chicken has bolted...his wife, the First Lady, took over the whole issue and turned it into a theater of the absurd, summoning officials of state in a clear unconstitutional act and subjecting them to untold and humiliating treatment, as if they were behind the abductions.

Apparently dissatisfied with the panel set up by her husband, she set up her own, and even ordered the arrest of the women who have daily been protesting on the streets to force the government to act to rescue the girls.

They blamed everyone but themselves. Even the dumbstruck parents and guardians of the abducted girls were not spared, as the President kept insinuating on his Media Chat last Sunday that they have refused to cooperate with the authorities to find their daughters!!!

In the midst of all these, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility for the abduction of the girls of Chibok and 11 more girls were kidnapped in Warabe. Only then did the distracting, obscene and shameless grandstanding in Abuja on the issue stop.

Realizing that he has now reached the end of his tethers and that he was facing a challenge far beyond his capability and installed capacity, the President made a belated request for assistance to the world. All through this, his party, the PDP, went silent and the world took over the battle!

Oh, lest we forget, the National Women Leader of the PDP, Mrs. Kema Chikwe, perhaps holding brief for his party, raised doubts that the girls were indeed missing and asked for their names and pictures to be published, not minding the stigma that will be the girls' lot when they return home.

OFFER OF ASSISTANCE BY FOREIGN COUNTRIES
We welcome and commend the offer of assistance by Britain, Canada, China, France, US, ECOWAS and the UN, among others to help find our girls. We welcome the British and American experts who have already arrived on our shores to assist us to find our girls and return them safely to their parents.

This confirms our stated belief that the war against terrorism is a global battle that needs all hands to be on deck. It confirms our earlier call on the government to take its case to ECOWAS and the African Union so that the entire Sahel Region, which has become the playground for terrorists, can become a focus of sub-regional and regional attention.

We thank all the friendly nations and global organizations that have expressed solidarity with our dear country in her hour of need, and urge those that have offered assistance to ensure it extends beyond finding our girls to dealing a crushing blow to the terrorists and defeating them once and for all.

But we submit that ultimately, the security and safety of our citizens are the primary responsibility of the Nigerian Government, led by President Jonathan, and the government must not abdicate this responsibility simply because some nations and organizations have offered to assist

 OUR STAND AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Fellow Nigerians, these are times that try the souls of men. Our nation faces a most severe and unfair test. The decisions and actions taken in the next few weeks and months may well determine whether we emerge from the pit into which violent terrorism has pushed us or shall we sink deeper still into lawlessness and disorder. The challenge we face is much bigger than the pursuit of office or individual ambition.

Even without the Boko Haram crisis, the nation ran itself as if on auto-pilot. The Jonathan Administration did little and depended on the ingenuity of the Nigerian people to fend for themselves and cover up governmental shortcoming.

However, a crisis has come which no amount of private ingenuity can resolve. Only government can answer this call. The time has come for strategy and action. The time has come but government has been found sorely wanting. Just as they have left the girls in the forest and at the mercy of armed terrorists without mercy, this government has left the nation in the cold.

We must acknowledge that the nation has been brought low. We now suffer more violence and destruction than many places that are formally at war. For too many, Nigeria has become not a place to live but a place to die. We must change this evil equation.

At moments like these, Nigeria needs a leadership that is bold, coherent, sincere and focused. Unfortunately, that is not the case right now for our dear nation.

Given what is at stake, people of goodwill must speak up to offer suggestions on how Nigeria can pull itself from her present security quagmire.

As a party, the APC has watched with great trepidation the deteriorating state of our country and its security institutions. We have consistently offered suggestions on how to resolve this crisis. We have said only a non-partisan approach can help resolve the huge crisis we face, even though the Jonathan Administration has pointedly ignored this. But we remain undaunted.

Today, we call on President Jonathan to earn his epaulet as the Commander-in-Chief and stop passing the buck. We remind him that as the Chief Security Officer of the nation, he cannot and must not pass the buck. We remind him that having imposed a state of emergency on Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, he has assumed full responsibility for the security of those states, and that it is disingenuous of him to point accusing fingers at the Governors of those states, who cannot even move around their states freely without clearance.

Because we in the APC remain resolute that Nigeria can overcome this evil group, if only we all come together to fight the common enemy, we hereby advocate a multifaceted strategy, the outlines of which we now place before the Nigerian people for discussion and comment:

The government's response against Boko Haram has reached a strategic stalemate - a situation of parity in impacts. This strategic stalemate is to Boko Haram's advantage for it wins as long as it exists and continues to disrupt and terrorize. Government policy needs to reform in a few important ways viz:

 1. Develop and/or Publish a Counter-Terrorism Strategy:Presently there is poor coordination between and integration of military means and political and economic objectives. There is currently no publicly known counter-terrorism strategy guiding the response to BH, and the impact of this can be seen in at least three ways: first is the chaos and confusion surrounding the government's intention to explore a negotiated settlement by dialoguing with BH. One minute the government favours and
seeks to dialogue and grant amnesty to BH, the next minute government rules it out. There are mixed signals from the government. Second is the lack of use and coordination of military, political and economic means, yet successful counter-insurgency requires close coordination of military, political and economic means and objectives.

 2. Build a new Intelligence Gathering Infrastructure - In 2012, Nigeria announced plans for a new intelligence fusion centre to coordinate, improve and integrate intelligence gathering and sharing across agencies. We need to obtain more timely and actionable intelligence from local sources in the areas affected by Boko Haram. We would also establish an office of the Special Anti-Terrorism Coordinator.

 3. Improved Intelligence: The solution to preventing, limiting and responding better to BH attacks does not lie in deploying more troops but in improving intelligence and increasing force enablers. The fight against BH will be enhanced if government focuses on these two elements.

 4. Improve Contingency Planning: Most major militaries around the world have plans for the major challenges they are likely to face. We need to begin to create plans and conduct training exercises that reflect the challenges we will face. In this manner. Our security apparatus will be better prepared if and when a situation arises.

 5. Pursue and Align military with political (negotiated) solutions: Boko Haram is unlikely to be defeated militarily. Most insurgencies are ended through some form of negotiation. Government must develop a strategy along the lines of the policy followed by President Yar'Adua (over the MEND insurgency in the Niger Delta) at least to the extent that we use employment and other rehabilitative incentives to separate the rank and file from Boko Haram's leadership.

 6. De-radicalization Strategy: The Northern region is in urgent need of a counter-radicalization program to prevent many more young people (illiterate and unemployed) from being radicalized. Such strategies would require initiatives to counter violent extremist ideology and create positive incentives against radicalization (beyond the current focus on punitive measures - arrest, detention and killing), give voice and representation to young people in the region, etc.

 7. Regionalize (ECOWAS and AU) Response: The government to solicit the operational involvement and assistance of ECOWAS and AU, including deploying multinational security operations across the Sahel to track and hunt down Boko Haram operational chain. It is clear that Boko Haram is no longer a 'Nigeria-only' problem, but now a regional security menace that requires regional responses.

 8. Effective information management and strategic communication: The government needs to reform the way information is released and managed on Boko Haram. This goes beyond official information management and government agencies to include working with print, electronic and online media organizations, and local (grassroots) information channels.

 9. Economic Development Plan for Northern Nigeria: The proposed recovery fund for the North East is grossly inadequate window dressing. A real and massive effort is needed. Clearly more financial resources are needed. Economic revival goes beyond providing substantial funds - it has to be guided by clear objectives, roles of public and private sectors and civil society groups, and must include social (education, health, religion, culture and traditional institutions), environmental, and political aspects, in addition to economic issues.

 10. Involve civilian peace building organizations (military and police cannot build peace): Uniformed personnel are never peace builders. The government needs to urgently involve local and international peace building organizations, including NGOs, CSOs, etc. to design peace building initiatives for the NE.

 CONCLUSION
Our nation stands on the rim of crisis. A stupendous national disaster beckons. But this current leadership can help avert disaster if they wake up to what true governance is. The time for excuses and half-measures is long past. The well being of the nation hangs in the balance. If we do not act decisively, the demands of the moment will find us wanting and history will issue a terrible verdict against us. We seek to protect this nation and her children. We seek to establish a legacy that shows the feats to which this nation can aspire when it stands united and strong against the threat of evil. We seek to make Nigeria a land where no one will ever have to demand that our girls be returned because in a better, more secure Nigeria they never will be taken!

Thank you and God bless this nation!

Another Boko Haram Member Captured In TB Joshua's Church

Let me just put a disclaimer here...I didn't write this o! :-). Article written by Ihechukwu Njoku - a freelance Nigerian journalist who writes for Synagogue Church. Read his new piece below...

 > Another member of the dreaded Boko Haram sect allegedly confessed at Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua's church today, stating that he was being paid N2,000,000 to bomb churches.

 > Nearing the end of the service, during the time Joshua's 'Wise Men' were minisring 'deliverance' to people, an aggressive young man dressed in a shabby suit was ushered forward.

"I am one of the Boko H

 > an> the man declared to the wise man, clearly under an unusual influence."They said they would give me N2,000,000 if I went to blow up a church," the man continued upon questioning as to how he joined the infamous group of insurgents. "Every church would be N2,000,000. They said would be give me big house and a wife." Continue...
t-family: inherit;">Boko Haram has been the focus of huge international media attention following their claiming responsibility for the kidnapping of over 200 girls several weeks ago.

Queried as to why he came to the church, the man stated, "I have been hearing of T.B. Joshua - that is why I came here." The wise man then prayed for the man who fell heavily to the ground, before being declared free from the 'evil spirit'.

Several minutes later, T.B. Joshua himself returned to the service simply clad in jeans and a t-shirt. "I was in the prayer room when I heard the deliverance going on and listened to the confession of this guy. What he was confessing is mind-boggling," the cleric told the congregation.

Bringing the man back before the congregation, Joshua questioned him further as to how he was initiated into the sect. "My name is Hosea Bulus," the man began. "They gave me blood; they gave me charms. I took it inside food."

According to Bulus, upon taking the diabolic 'blood', the urge to kill and destroy entered him. "If you talk to me, I will fight you very well," he confessed.

Joshua emphasised to the congregation that the battle was more spiritual than physical. "One thing you must know - we are fighting evil spirits that steal, kill and destroy. Let us not fight our neighbours."

He insisted the problem was not a Muslim-Christian issue. "They are using that name as a camouflage, as a cover up," he stated, adding that no one could bring himself to killing innocent lives without being under the influence of an 'evil spirit'.

Joshua then prayed for the man, who fell to his knees and immediately complained that he wanted to visit the toilet.

The popular pastor reminded the congregation of the well-publicized deliverance of an alleged Boko Haram member named 'Mustapha' two months ago at The SCOAN who stated he came to bomb the church with four accomplices.

He explained that authorities in Abuja have certified the authenticity of his confession, contrary to the statement released by Lagos State Police Commissioner Umar Manko who initially dismissed the claims.

"At the beginning they said it's not true but the authorities in Abuja came out to confirm that he is truly a Boko Haram member They are following it up."

The cleric concluded by stating he would not ask any further questions publicly so as not to undermine the intelligence Hosea would be able to provide to the relevant authorities.

Several minutes later, the man was shown excreting out some blackish substances following the prayer.

BREAKING : CHIBOK: AMERICAN MARINES LOCATE ABDUCTED GIRLS IN SAMBISA FOREST

There were indications yesterday that the 230 female students
abducted by Boko Haram terrorists from the Government Girls’
Secondary School, GGSS, Chibok, Borno State, have be
en sited at the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, by the Special Forces of
the United States Marines.
The girls who were abducted on April 14, were part of the 250 students
boarded at the school for the West African School Certificate, WASC/
Senior Secondary School Certificate, SSSC, examinations, triggering
world-wide condemnations.
This was even as more US military officials arrived Nigeria yesterday to
join local officials in the search for nearly 300 school girls taken
captives by the Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram, the US
Secretary of State John Kerry, and the defence department, Pentagon,
said.
The UK team had earlier arrived in Abuja to support Nigerian
government in its response to the abduction of over 200 school girls.
The arrival of the foreign troops is coming on the heels of the appeal
yesterday by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for Nigerians to
unite and fight the insurgents to achieve success.
According to Kerry, “Our inter-agency team is hitting the ground in
Nigeria now and they are going to be working with President Goodluck
Jonathan’s government to do everything that we possibly can to return
these girls.”
The CNN also quoted the U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, John Kirby, who
serves as Pentagon press secretary, as saying that the small team of
seven would join advisers supporting local efforts to find the girls
abducted over three weeks ago.
Kerry said the US team, working with the Nigerian government, would
do everything possible to free the girls and everything possible to stop
the atrocities of Boko Haram.
“We are also going to do everything possible to counter the menace of
Boko Haram. The entire world should not only be condemning this
outrage but should be doing everything possible to help Nigeria in the
days ahead,” he added.
But there are no plans to send American combat troops into Nigeria,
Mr. Kirby said.
The abduction of the school girls on April 14 in a remote community in
Borno State, one of the most shocking terrorist acts by Boko Haram
yet, has drawn widespread anger around the world with calls for a
swift action.
President Goodluck Jonathan said Thursday that the kidnapping will
be “the beginning of end” of Boko Haram.
US President Obama has said he hopes the abduction by Boko Haram
will galvanize the international community to act against the brutal
group that has directed much of its cruelty on civilians and the
innocent.
This week, more than 100 people were killed in a busy market by
militants suspected to be from the group. The attack occurred in
Gamboru Ngala, Borno State, near the Nigerian border with Cameroun.
Besides the United States, Britain, France and China have also offered
to help rescue the stolen girls.Obama said the team sent to Nigeria
comprised personnel from military, law enforcement and other
agencies.
France said it will station 3,000 troops in Nigeria’s neighbouring
countries to help fight militants in the Sahel region.
British satellites and advanced tracking capabilities also will be used,
and China has promised to provide any intelligence gathered by its
satellite network.
Meanwhile in a statement yesterday, the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office spokesperson said, “a team of UK experts who will advise and
support the Nigerian authorities in its response to the abduction of
over 200 school girls touched down in Abuja, Nigeria this morning”.
The team is drawn from across government, including DfID, FCO and
the MoD, and will work with the Nigerian authorities leading on the
abductions and terrorism in Nigeria. The team will be considering not
just the recent incidents but also longer-term counter-terrorism
solutions to prevent such attacks in the future and defeat Boko Haram.
The team will be working closely with their US counterparts and others
to coordinate efforts.
Us Marines find abducted girls, arrest Boko Haram leader
However, military sources said that apart from abducting the girls, the
insurgents also carted away food items and vehicles as well as killing
undisclosed number of people in Chibok on the fateful night.
The sources told Saturday Vanguard in Abuja that members of the
United States Marines who are already in Maiduguri following the
promise by President Barak Obama to assist Nigeria in rescuing the
abducted girls, located the girls inside the forest, using some Satellite
equipment which combed the forest, located an assembly of the young
girls and sent the images back to the Marines on ground in Maiduguri.
Aside locating the whereabouts of the girls in the dense forest, it was
also, further gathered that one of the leaders of terrorist group who
participated in the abduction of the girls was arrested by a combined
team of the US Marines and Nigerian forces.
Sources said that the Boko Haram leader was arrested, through an
advanced interceptor equipment which was used to track the terrorist
while exchanging information with his colleagues in Sambisa Forest
about the movements of American and Nigerian soldiers in Maiduguri.
His phone was subsequently traced to a location in Maiduguri where
he was arrested and handed over to the Nigerian military.
The location of the girls in the forest is contrary to widespread reports
that the girls had been distributed and ferried to the Nigerian border
towns in Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic.
Senator Ahmed Zanna, representing Borno Central District in whose
Maiduguri home, an alleged Boko Haram top commander was once
arrested told the Senate last week that he gave the Military an up-to-
date information on how the girls could be rescued, but lamented that
his information was largely ignored.
He spoke against the backdrop of the claim by the Boko Haram leader,
Sheik Abubakar Shekau, last week that the girls were booties of war,
who would be sold into slavery.
However, Atiku said in his blog, “While I have had and continue to have
major policy differences with the government in Abuja and its
leadership, as a nation we must remain united.
”We have come to a turning point in our war against terrorism in
Nigeria. It is a critical moment for us; the war will not be won without
us winning this battle. In short, if one is not part of the solution, they
become part of the problem.
”And at a moment like this, we can no longer afford anything but a
united commitment to stamping out a great evil that threatens the very
existence of the only place we call home.
”On social media, I have been amazed by the outpouring of solidarity
from within and outside Nigeria. While on the one hand it is sad to see
Nigeria in the news for its inability to protect its most vulnerable
citizens, it is also clear that in the age of social media no concerns or
problems are local.
”It is in light of this that I welcome the offer of military support from
the United States, United Kingdom, France and others, and the
acceptance by the Nigerian government. While I believe that we waited
too long to get to this point of admitting our need for external help, I
will also insist that it’s better late than never.
”We must make it clear that under no circumstances should any
person, group of persons, or organization ever be permitted to prey on
the children of Nigeria, or any other country. We must make it easy for
everyone who has information about this crime against humanity to
contact the authorities at once.
”We must make it easy for the innocent population of the affected
areas to see the Nigerian military and authorities as friends, not
enemies. We must make it easy for our soldiers to be loyal and
committed to this great and difficult task ahead of them.
”We must make it easy for the world to see Nigeria as a country that
cares for all its citizens, regardless of their age, gender, religion, ethnic
group or economic class. We must remember the people most affected,
trapped on the frontlines of the battle.
They need support, relief and rehabilitation. ”We must remember they
will need help when they are returned home to their families and their
loved ones. And we must make it difficult for anyone to play politics
with this crisis.
’’Nothing, absolutely nothing, is worth the bloodshed and the
destruction we have come to associate with this campaign of terror.
Not party affiliations, not the 2015 elections. We are in a race against
time. For every day we delay our response, or allow ourselves to be
caught up in needless bickering, we hand victory over to the forces of
darkness and despair, like Boko Haram.”
