Police kill Three Suspected Robbers, Arrest Herbalist, Two Others

The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday,
said it had killed three suspected robbers and
arrested a herbalist and two others in two
robbery operations in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations
Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a
statement, men of the Ogun State Command’s
Special Anti Robbery Squad led by Inspector
Adeyemi Akeem on Friday, April 25 burst a
gang of robbers that specialised in snatching
cars, at toll gate in Otta, Ogun State around
6pm, killing two of the robbers and arrested
one Yusuf Ahmed.
He said: “The robbers had snatched one
Mercedes Benz ML 320 SUV with number
plate LND 779 AQ from the owner at Dalemo
area of Ota on Thursday, April 24 around
2pm and the team had since then put them
under surveillance before the arrest.
“The syndicate had been on the wanted list of
the command for the past one year, having
been involved in robbries within and outside
Ogun State.
“The suspect,Yusuf Ahmed, 21, is from Oja
Oba in Ibadan, Oyo State but resides in
Temidire area of Ota in Ogun State. He is an
alumnus of the Command Secondary School,
Ibadan 2010 set and had been before now
sentenced to imprisonment at Ikoyi Prison,
Lagos State for a similar offence where he
spent nine months before he was released.
“In the same vein, the same SARS team
encountered another syndicate that
specialised in highway robberies in the state.
“During the encounter, one of the robbers
was shot and later died while two of them,
who were fatally injured, were arrested with
one pump action gun, three locally made guns
and 30 rounds of ammunition.
“One of the suspects is Obong Imeh, 37, an
Efik man from Akpabuyo Local Government
Area of Cross River State, who resides at
Ikenne Remo, Ogun State. He is a father of
three and has been in the dirty business for
years, according to him.
“He is a strong man (spiritually) as he used to
disappear whenever he encountered security
operatives except his blood touches the
ground before he could be arrested. So he
was arrested when the police bullet hit him
and his blood touched the ground.
“The second suspect, Sarumi jide,37, a father
of 2 is from Ita Ajia, Ilorin Kwara State. He
finished from the Technical College ijebu-
Igbo Ogun State in 2010.
“Sarumi is the Armourer to the syndicate and
he claimed to be getting the arms from cult
boys in Ijebu Ode whenever they had
operations.
“The commissioner of Police in Ogun state
CP Ikemefuna Okoye has ordered the
SARS to carry out a thorough
investigation on the two cases and fish out
other members of the two syndicates and
their accomplices.
“He however assured the general public of
bringing the suspects to book so as to serve
as deterrent to others in the state and
Nigeria at large.
“ He also reaffirmed his directive of putting
officers and men of the command on their
toes to continue the war against cultism in
Ogun state as these revelations unfold on
their connivance with armed robbers who
terrorise the good people of the state”, he
said.
